Lunar Images

The background image is a composite of a series of pictures taken in January of 1999. I used the Starlight Express HX516 CCD camera on the 12" LX200 at f/6.3. While not perfect, it's not bad for a half hour of imaging. To see the whole image, simply scroll down.

Some highlights of the background image in better detail:

- Mare Tranquillitatis, including the landing sites of Apollo 11 & 16.

Images of the waxing gibbous moon of February 15, 2000 with the TV-85 and HX516:

- Tycho to Copernicus

- Copernicus and Eratosthenes (binned image)

- Copernicus Region

- Gassendi, Bullialdus and Mare Humorum

- Tycho Region

- Plato and Anaxagoras
